This champion trio of Aubergine 'Green Knight,' 'Purple Knight,' and 'White Knight' not only looks great in the greenhouse, but also on the plate, providing a rewarding variety of flavors and textures for all of your recipes. The 'Knight' collection features slender, smooth-skinned fruits in green, white, and deep purple that are suitable for both traditional Mediterranean and Asian dishes. Fruits that are early to mature and high-yielding are borne on compact, disease-resistant, and well-branched plants that are ideal for container-growing in the greenhouse. Aubergines are becoming increasingly popular among chefs who recognize their versatility in the kitchen: they can be sauteed, grilled, baked, or fried and readily absorb flavors, making them a tasty and satisfying substitute for meat in vegetarian and vegan dishes. Height: 75 cm (30"). Spread: 60cm (24"). Aubergine 'Three Knight Recipe Collection' F1 contains 9 seeds, 3 of each variety: Aubergine 'Green Knight' F1 - slender, jade-green fruits with firm flesh and a mild-sweet flavor that are especially useful as an ingredient in Asian stir fries and curries. 'Purple Knight' F1 aubergine has long, banana-like fruits with a smooth, deep purple skin. Aubergine 'White Knight' F1 - Asian-type variety with creamy-white 20cm long fruits with thin skins and firm flesh.

Sowing Information

Sow aubergine seeds from February to May for indoor cultivation or March to April for growing outdoors. Soaking them in warm water for 24 hours before sowing will assist germination. Sow seeds on the surface of a free draining, moist seed compost and cover with 6mm (1/4”) layer of vermiculite or compost. Place in a propagator or seal the container inside a polythene bag at constant temperature of 18-21C (65-70F) until after germination which takes 10-14 days. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, carefully transplant them into 7.5cm (3") pots and grow on at a slightly reduced temperature.

When all risk of frost is passed and the soil is warm, harden off and plant aubergines in their final positions. For indoor cultivation, pot on into larger containers or plant 2 aubergines per growbag. Outdoors, plant aubergines in rich fertile soil at a distance of 90cm (3') apart, in rows spaced 90-120cm (3-4') apart. Grow aubergines in a sheltered position in full sun. Planting through black plastic mulch will help to warm the soil, control weeds and save moisture.

Live Plants

Suttons strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.

All Suttons products should reach you in perfect condition, just as they left us. If you are dissatisfied in any way with their condition on arrival, please let us know within 14 days. We are only liable for the cost of the goods as quoted on the website plus the cost of delivery if the goods are faulty.

Unlike many companies, we publish all of our reviews - good or bad - to give you, the customer, total transparency and peace of mind.
