Can you grow summer-flowering shrubs in a pot?

Summer-flowering shrubs can be grown in a container – just make sure you get a pot that’s big enough. For smaller containers, try Lilac Dwarf ‘Flowerfesta® Pink' or Weigela ‘Picobella Rosa’ – both are compact varieties. Hydrangeas and viburnums need bigger pots.

Among the flowering shrubs with the best scent are jasmine, honeysuckle and philadelphus.

Are there any evergreen flowering shrubs?

Many of our flowering shrubs are evergreen. Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’ has attractive golden foliage, Hebe ‘Heartbreaker’ has variegated leaves that turn pink in winter, and ‘Copper Beauty’ is an evergreen variety of honeysuckle.
