Grow your own goodness this winter
For those who want to keep cropping through autumn and into winter, why not grow Swiss Chard Seakale outside now. This extremely cold hardy variety will give you tasty leaves within weeks or can be left to produce larger leaves and stems which can be braised or steamed like asparagus. Perfect to serve with fried garlic and cubed potatoes for a light and tasty meal. Mix contains 11 value plugs each of Swiss Chard Seakale and Winter Mix Salad Leaves.
As a bonus, you can leave the plants in the ground and they will erupt in the New Year with edible flower stalks, that's an incredible 3 crops from one plant! Chard can also be cooked and frozen into ice cubes. Perfect to add to winter stews, adding flavour and colour.
Our winter mix of salad leaves includes varieties which can be eaten small within weeks, but we recommend transplanting a few into a greenhouse or tunnel after harvesting your tomatoes. Your plants will continue to grow and with a little protection will reward you with tasty salads all winter.
