Looking after your Shallots
Shallots like a sunny, sheltered site in well-drained soil. Plant Shallots Bulbs - Meloine 10cm apart in rows 30cm apart. Gently push the Shallots Bulbs - Meloine into soft, well-worked soil so that the tip is just showing, and firm the soil around them.

Unpack on arrival, and spread out in a cool, light place. Plant from the suggested dates onwards as weather conditions permit. Allow approximately 30cm (12") between rows and 15cm (6") between bulbs. Lift crop when leaves turn yellow, dry in sunshine, and store under cool, dry frost-free conditions. 400g of shallots (approximately 15-20 bulbs) will plant a row of about 3m (10'). Your shallots will grow perfectly happily in a window box or a container on a sunny patio. Plant one bulb to a 15cm (6″) pot and keep the compost moist until the leaves start to yellow, then just let them dry out ready to harvest.
