Lavender ‘Purple Panache’ is a striking variety of French lavender, celebrated for its vibrant deep purple flower spikes adorned with distinctive purple “ears.” This compact plant brings a bold splash of color to summer gardens, making it a standout choice for various landscaping needs.

Characterized by its upright, bushy growth and aromatic silver-grey foliage, this lavender blooms from late spring to early summer, producing eye-catching purple spikes complemented by long-lasting bracts. Its light lavender fragrance is not only pleasing to the senses but also attracts bees and butterflies, enhancing the biodiversity of any garden. Hardy in most UK climates, it can withstand temperatures as low as -10 °C.

For optimal growth, ‘Purple Panache’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, such as chalk, sand, or light loam, while being sensitive to waterlogging. Once established, it demonstrates drought tolerance, making it suitable for low hedges, containers, and gravel gardens, as well as for use in fresh or dried floral arrangements. Regular maintenance involves deadheading spent flowers and lightly pruning in spring to promote a compact shape and encourage vigorous regrowth. This variety typically reaches a height and spread of 60 cm (24 in).

Growing Information

Grow French lavender plants on free draining soil in full sun. Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting.When growing French lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.

While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

Large Non-standard items may incur a higher, lorry delivery charge. Charges will be calculated at checkout, but an example of the lorry charges are listed below.
