Lavender ‘Fairy Wings Purple’ is a compact, evergreen variety of French lavender that showcases striking purple bracts above its fragrant flowers, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and ecological value of any sunny garden. Its mounded growth habit features sturdy, upright stems that contribute to its overall structure.

The plant boasts narrow, aromatic foliage with a silvery-grey hue, which complements the deep purple flower spikes adorned with distinctive petal-like bracts, often referred to as “fairy wings.” These blooms emerge from late spring through summer, releasing a strong fragrance characteristic of Spanish lavenders.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils—such as sand, chalk, loam, or light clay—this lavender is fully hardy in the UK, tolerating temperatures as low as -20?°C. Once established, it requires moderate watering and is drought-tolerant, though care should be taken to prevent waterlogging. Additionally, it attracts a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies, making it a valuable addition to any garden. Regular maintenance involves pruning spent flower stems post-bloom and trimming foliage in spring to promote healthy growth and maintain its shape. Growing Information

Grow French lavender plants on free draining soil in full sun. Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting.When growing French lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.

While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.
