Chilli Pepper Plant - Jalapeno

Grow one of the world’s most famous chillies from your very own home!

The Jalapeno is one of the world’s most famous chilli. This chilli pepper plant will produce an abundance of chillies with a unique in flavour. Suitable for greenhouses or compact patios, this chilli pepper plant will thrive best in a 7-10 litre pot reaching heights of 120-130cm (48-52").

When the Jalapeno is green it is great to eat however, when left to turn a luscious red it is deliciously sweet. It is a popular chill for pizza toppings with its pungent flavour and unusual ‘scarred’ skin it has the desired traits of Mexican Jalapenos. Weighing in at a very satisfactory 2,500 - 5,000 SHU, this chilli pepper plant is medium to hot in heat.

Grow one of the world’s most famous chilli’s from your very own patio or greenhouse, a must-have for any keen vegetable grower.

Caring for your Jalapeno

Your chilli plant will perform best in a greenhouse but will produce a good crop in a sunny sheltered location outdoors. It is important that you give it time to adjust to its new environment. Check the compost is moist and if required leave the plant to soak in approximately 5mm water for 5-10 minutes or until the top of the compost is damp. Stand the plant in a warm, light, airy place such as a windowsill or conservatory and allow to grow, ensuring that the compost is kept moist.

Growing Information

Chilli peppers may be grown undercover in a greenhouse or polytunnel, or grown outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun. Pot up young plants and grow them on in warm frost free conditions. When plants are well grown transplant them into grow bags and containers, or plant them in well prepared beds of fertile, well drained soil. When growing chilli peppers outdoors, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days prior to transplanting them. Space pepper plants at a distance of 50cm (20") apart.

Live Plants

Suttons strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland.
