Growing Information

The guava plant grows wide with a short canopy. The trunk can be either multi-stemmed or one single sturdy trunk. Guava plants thrive in most soil types but prefer good drainage and of course full sun light for optimum fruit and flowering. Guava plants require protection from the cold and are not suitable for the outdoors in colder climates. Guava plants require watering frequently especially during flowering and fruiting seasons. Guava plants can be cared for in similar ways to other fruiting trees.

Plants should be grown in a large container in a warm conservatory and kept moist at all times, flower and fruit should start to be produced after one or two years. You can keep your guava at around 1-1.5m tall by constantly pinching out the growing tips.
