Garden Power Tools

Garden Power Tools

Power tools are usually thought of as being fairly modern but actually go back to ancient Egypt where hand powered lathes were used. In the 1880s the electric motor was invented and resulted in the many different types of self-powered tools available today.

A garden power tool can be portable like a chainsaw or stationery like a log splitter but the purpose is the same – to provide some extra muscle power! For example, splitting logs by hand is satisfying, good exercise and certainly warms you up but the job will be finished in a fraction of the time using a powered log splitter.

Noise can be an issue with many power tools and respect and consideration needs to be shown to both neighbours and to the operator's ears. Most importantly the tools must be used with safety as the primary concern. Instruction booklets should be studied before use and all safety precautions followed.
