The hoverfly is a useful friend to the gardener, their larvae eat pest such as aphids on garden plants and crops. If you like to grow carrots, onions and fruit trees then they will be a welcome addition to your garden. Planting these seeds will help encourage them in!

Using a quality, moist seed compost, sow your seeds thinly in a propagator and cover with 3mm (1/8") compost. Place on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approximately 18-21°C (65-70°F) to germinate (14-28 days). Transfer seedlings into trays spacing them 5cm (2") apart, and grow on. Plant out in a sunny spot 25cm (10") apart. Alternatively, sow thinly direct outside.
