Chamomile infusions with the scent of apples have long been reputed to bring calm and sleep and there’s a reason that the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and later civilisations all believed it to also be invaluable for promoting enriched and healthy skin. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties have long been recognised for enriching dry, itchy skins.

Sow into trays of good quality seed compost, covering slightly with compost (germination up to 14 days). Grow on until large enough to handle and pot on into individual 9cm pots. Harden off and plant out at 15cm spacings after all chance of frost has passed. Alternatively, can be direct sown outside where they are to flower (Germination up to 21 days). Plants prefer a free-draining soil in full sun to perform best.

Flowers are best picked in the morning when they are fully open, then dried for up to 7 days before being stored in an airtight container. Plants self-seed freely, so deadhead if required.
