These wonderful flowers will bloom all summer long when the full sun allows them to bloom to their full potential.

The osteospermum – Purple Sun will certainly be an eye-catching talking point at your summer garden parties! They have a neat, compact and well rounded growing habit which makes them perfect for displaying pride of place flower beds containers and flower borders. Try also planting these magnificent flowers in rockeries for a vibrant and exotic display. Like most osteospermum, this plant is suited to well-drained soil - avoid cold, wet soil to get the best out of it. Flowers June-August. Height 40-50cm (16-20").

Caring for your Osteospermum

Plant out at about the time of your last spring frost. Cut as soon as they open, osteospermum – Purple Sun make great cut flowers. As plants age, they sometimes develop problems with powdery mildew. Aphids may occasionally feed on new growing tips and buds. Pinch off large colonies.

Growing Information

Super Plugs

Upon receiving your plants, pot them out and grow them on in a warmer, frost free area, in order to transplant later. To stimulate branching & growth into a bushier plant, pinch out the growing tip of each stem. This will also help the plant produce more flowers. Once the risk of frost has passed, progressively allow the plants to become accustom to the outdoors. This should occur over a 7-10-day period before moving them to containers, flower beds & borders and hanging baskets.

If you are planting in decorative patio pots or hanging baskets, plant these straight into the pot or hanging basket to be moved outside once the last frost passes.

Feeding

Mix a light application of a balanced organic fertiliser into the soil prior to planting. In summer, drench plants every two weeks with a liquid fertiliser.

Ideal for beds and borders, patio pots and containers. Prefers full sun or partial shade.
