To flower the first year, sow thinly at 18-21ºC (65-70ºF) from January to March in a greenhouse/indoors using a good quality, moist seed compost. Cover lightly with compost. Transfer resulting seedlings to further trays 5cm (2") apart and grow on in good light, before planting out 15cm (6") apart in June in a fertile, limey soil. Do not overwater. May also be sow in trays in July and transferred to planting site in the autumn for flowering in spring/summer the following year. Note: good light is essential in the early stages of growth for bud development.
