of each variety): Garlic Blanak (picture 1) - Officially
categorised as a 'glazed purple stripe', Blanak boasts very attractive
shiny purple skins on both cloves and bulbs, and is particularly
fine-tasting when baked. The medium-to-large bulbs contain a greater
number of cloves than German Red, and store very well too. Hardneck
type - Very hardy type, ideal for northern areas. Widely regarded as
the finest tasting of all garlics! 2 Bulbs (9-11 cloves per bulb);
Garlic German Red (picture 2) - A vigorous grower with lush green
foliage that leads to a bold, well formed bulb. All of the cloves are a
good size, expect around 8-10 fat cloves per bulb which are easy to peel.
German Red has a rich, hot spicy flavour which is well suited to dishes
that demand plenty of garlic! It's a mid-season variety so the bulbs will
be ready to pull from early July and will store up to the end of the
year. Hardneck type - Very hardy type, ideal for northern areas.

cloves per bulb); Garlic Purple Wight (picture 3) - A good garlic
that is earlier than Solent Wight being ready to lift from mid-June. Has
an attractive purple striped skin containing strong tasting cloves.
Stores well until the end of the year. Semi-hardneck type. 2 Bulbs (5-8
cloves per bulb); Garlic Solent Wight (picture 4) - A popular
selection that is well adapted to the British climate and gives a good
crop of large bulbs with plump tasty cloves. Expect to start harvesting
in July from a November planting. Softneck type. 2 Bulbs (12-14 cloves
per bulb).
