A somewhat milder taste Probably the best heat prepared set onion, giving the heaviest crops of large golden semi globe onions, and storing particularly well. It has a consistent shape and good skin quality, and a somewhat milder taste than it’s red cousin. Very versatile in the kitchen whether in cooking or eaten raw.
Heat Treated Onion Sets - These sets are specially heat treated over a period of 20 weeks to reduce the risk of premature bolting (running to seed). As a result of this process the skins of the sets become darker and the moisture content lower and initial growth may be slower than normal. However, the growth soon speeds up and the results will be significantly better than un-treated sets.
Please note: Heat treated sets are not available until early April and will be despatched separately. Heat treated sets are low in moisture. Initial growth may be slow but soon accelerates. Culture: 200g of onion sets (approximately 50 sets) will plant a row of about 5m (16'). Full growing instructions included.
