Tomato Seeds - Black Prince

An heirloom from Irkutsk, Siberia. The 130g tomatoes are round and very uniform; the color is a wonderful deep blackish-chocolate brown. The flavour is as deep, sweet and rich as the colour. A unique salad tomato; the plants produce a large crop and early. (Cordon variety - one stem grown by pinching off side-shoots as they appear, needs staking and tying in.)

Tom says: We trial hundreds of new varieties every year in order to make sure only the very best varieties make it into our catalogue. The difference in flavours is incredible – from savoury cooking tomatoes to pure sweetness for snacking and every conceivable flavour combination in between, we have something for every taste bud and growing situation.

Cover seeds with 6mm (¼") sieved compost (germination 8-12 days). Transplant seedlings singly into 75mm (3") pots. Grow on, finally planting into large pots, grow bags or direct into the greenhouse border; or outdoors 45cm (18") apart when frost risk has passed. Feed regularly and sideshoot as necessary. Sowing to Cropping: 17-19 weeks.

Ideal for beds and borders, patio pots and containers, greenhouse. Prefers full sun but grows well in sun or shade.
