Available in two main varieties, Marrow seeds will produce a delicious vegetable which is lovely steamed and produces a beautiful nutty flavour when roasted.
Marrow seeds need to be sown in 75mm pots in April or May under glass. Germination takes between 5 and 8 days. When the risk of any frost has passed the marrow plant can then be transplanted outside; 60mm between every plant.
Alternatively the seeds can be sown outside during the months of May and June. The marrow seeds take 16 weeks to reach maturity.
Marrows are at their best when they are small and tender, and the plants are much more productive when the fruits are cut often.
