Grafted Tomato Plants - F1 Zebrino/F1 Sweet Petite Twins

We’ve grafted two tomato varieties onto one plant, so you can pick a bountiful crop of two mouth-watering varieties from just one plant! Both have been selected for their quality and taste and will perform well in a sunny spot outside or in a greenhouse. And not only do you get bigger crops from less space but, because they’ve been grafted for extra vigour, they’ll be ready to pick earlier too! Please note: There is a possibility that your plant will include a grafting clip, if it does, this is an integral part of the grafting process and that it should be left in place. As the plant grows it will naturally shrug off the clip.

F1 Zebrino - A unique tomato with high lycopene content, with a thick skin that, once cut, reveals deep red flesh.

F1 Sweet Petite - A vigorous-growing cherry tomato producing long, fishbone-shaped trusses of shiny red, deliciously sweet and tasty fruit.

  • Same type
  • Same speed of growth
  • Same heavy-cropping nature to produce much bigger crops from less space

Cordon variety - one stem grown by pinching off side-shoots as they appear, needs staking and tying in.

What's so good about grafted veg plants? We are revolutionising the home grown vegetable market with our range of grafted vegetable plants! Commercially the grafting method has been used for some time, but we've developed them for the home gardener, and early adopters have had extraordinary results: • Big increases in yield from larger, more vigorous plants • Earlier cropping, yet with sufficient vigour to crop well later in the season • Grow in the greenhouse or outdoors - little or no heating required • Excellent resistance to soil-borne pest and diseases - no more ring culture or grow bags - plant straight in the soil • Greater tolerance to nutritional disorders

Note that grafted tomatoes are not suitable for grow bags. An improved technique for tomato grafting - Since 2012, all our grafted tomato varieties now use this new technique which leads to even earlier and bigger crops, with fruiting beginning lower on the stems, producing at least one extra fruit truss per plant during the season!

On Arrival - Remove the plants from the box as soon as they arrive and check that the compost is adequately moist, watering if necessary with tepid water. Leave them on a shaded windowsill or in a greenhouse for a few hours to settle before further handling, ensuring a frost-free non-draughty situation. Potting On - These plants should be potted on as soon as possible, but they will keep quite well for 2–3 days if necessary, provided they are kept in a warm light place and are not allowed to dry out. Use 10cm (4") pots and a good quality moist proprietary compost and set the plants so that the top of the root ball is level with the compost surface. After potting, give a thorough watering, but thereafter take care to avoid overwet conditions, particularly as the young plants become re-established. Grow on in a light, humid position, and maintain an initial temperature of 16–18˚C (60–65˚F).
