Pepper Grafted Plant - F1 Chelsea

An easy-to-grow sweet pepper, producing plenty of large, delicious, top quality fruits that ripen from green to bright yellow. Tender & sweet - more for salads and uncooked food. Please note: There is a possibility that your plant will include a grafting clip, if it does, this is an integral part of the grafting process and that it should be left in place. As the plant grows it will naturally shrug off the clip. Supplied in a 10cm pot.

What's so good about grafted veg plants? We are revolutionising the home grown vegetable market with our range of grafted vegetable plants! Commercially the grafting method has been used for some time, but we've developed them for the home gardener, and early adopters have had extraordinary results: • Big increases in yield from larger, more vigorous plants - up to 75% more crops than a standard vegetable plant! • Earlier cropping, yet with sufficient vigour to crop well later in the season • Grow in the greenhouse or outdoors - little or no heating required • Excellent resistance to soil-borne pest and diseases - no more ring culture or grow bags - plant straight in the soil • Greater tolerance to nutritional disorders

On Receipt - Check the plants are moist and grow on in 10cm pots using a good quality potting compost. When planting, ensure that the graft is well above soil level to prevent the scion rooting into the soil which would reduce resistance to soil borne diseases. Maintaining a temperature of 16-18ºC (60-65ºF) and provide a cane support.

Growing On - Once the roots fill the pots, transfer into 30cm (12″) pots or plant in the greenhouse border 60cm (2') apart. The plants are not suitable for growing in grow bags due to the strong root system. They are vigorous plants and as the fruit start to set start feeding twice a week using a liquid tomato fertiliser. On hot sunny days damp down the pathways to increase the humidity and misting the plants with water will aid fruit setting. The plants can be grown on a sunny patio once the danger of frost has passed in early June but the best results will be obtained when grown in the greenhouse.
