Carpinus betulus Potted Plants

Carpinus betulus Plants - 10 x 2 Litre Pots

The Hornbeam hedging plant is a very popular native species with very similar characteristics to Beech - in that it retains many of its leaves in winter (not quite as good as Beech) but they go coppery coloured (a bit less coppery than Beech - more of a brown/grey) - but this species has more deeply veined and pointed leaves and is very well suited to wetter soils. It's a popular species to add in to native mixed hedging to give it some semi-evergreen quality and also very good as a single species hedge in a garden setting. Grows 20-40cm per year. Supplied in 2 litre pots.

Potted Plants are a more developed plant as their root systems are not disturbed during the lifting and planting process. They can be planted year round and if necessary can be left in their pots for several weeks before planting if you are unsure as to when you will be able to get round to doing the work; all they need is a little water to keep them happy. As more mature plants you don’t need quite as many per metre as the bare root plants (normally 3 to 5 would suffice depending on how dense you require your hedge and how quickly you need it to look established). Pots are a great way to create a new hedge effect more quickly.
