Sow the seed thinly direct into finely raked, moist, warm, weed free soil where the plants are to flower, 6mm (¼") deep. Germination 10-21 days. As the seedlings grow, thin in stages to achieve a final spacing of 50-60cm (20-24"). Support the plants as they develop. For early blooms sow indoors in 10cm (4") pots. Carefully acclimatise plants to outside conditions and plant out mid-late May.
Ideal for beds and borders, and for cut flowers. Attractive to butterflies. Prefers full sun. A real favourite with children. Flowers like very large daisies with brightly coloured petals. Use petals and seeds in salads and cakes.
