Nictotiana seeds produce beautiful flowers like long trumpets which are brightly coloured throughout the summer. There is a lovely range of tall varieties to choose from for your borders, and a range of more compact plants which are ideal for ornamental beds.
This half hardy annual needs to be sown between February and April under glass and will then flower between June and September.
Nictotiana seeds should germinate within 10 to 14 days. Transplant the seedlings into trays 5cm apart, leaving them to grow on. Nictotiana plants need to be acclimatised to outside condition before planting out at 45 to 60cm apart.
