Choose a sunny position. Sow direct into finely raked, moist, warm, soil where the plants are to flower at a depth of 6mm (¼") covering the seed lightly. Germination normally takes 10-14 days. Thin seedlings in stages to 23-30cm (9-12") apart removing any competing weeds. Alternatively, to flower the following year, sow direct during August to September.

Ideal for beds and borders. Drought resistant. Prefers full sun.

I grew this poppy for the first time this year, and I absolutely love them. I planted quite late, some time in June or even July, to fill the gaps in my borders. They are so easy and quick to flower, and the colours are beautiful. I have some growing by dahlia Jerrie Hoek and they complement each-other very well. I also planted some alongside deep purple salvia praetense, and it so happened that a patch of rich buttercream coloured poppies from this mix came up next to them. They reached exactly the same height and the colour combination was utterly gorgeous. Pollinators a so seem to love them, especially the hover flies in my garden. I've been deadheading them every now and then and they are still flowering very well at the end of November. Highly recommended!
